Terms of Use

Chapter 1. General Provisions

Article 1. Purpose

These Terms of Use set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of members and Ronald McDonald House Korea (the “Foundation”), together with other necessary matters, in connection with members’ use of the services provided by the Foundation.

Article 2. Effect and Amendment of the Terms

These Terms shall be posted on the service interface or otherwise made available to members and shall take effect when a member agrees to them and registers for the services. The Foundation may amend these Terms for reasonable grounds, provided that such amendments do not violate applicable laws. Amended Terms shall take effect upon publication by the Foundation. However, changes to material provisions concerning users’ rights or obligations shall be announced at least seven days in advance. Members who do not agree to the amended Terms may request withdrawal from membership and termination of their service agreement.

Article 3. Matters Not Covered by the Terms

7. Where a user under the age of 14 applies to register as an individual member or social login member.

Article 9. Changes to Registered Information

Chapter 3. Use of Services

Article 10. Service Availability

In principle, the services shall be available 24 hours a day, throughout the year, unless there are exceptional operational or technical circumstances affecting the Foundation. The Foundation may restrict service availability after giving users prior notice where necessary, including for scheduled system maintenance. However, services may be restricted without prior notice where an interruption results from circumstances beyond the Foundation’s control. The Foundation may divide the services into separate categories and specify different operating hours for each category. Any such arrangements shall be announced.

Article 11. Provision of Information and Display of Advertisements

In operating the services, the Foundation may post information on the service interface or provide it to members by email, postal mail, or other means. Notices necessary for service use, including confirmation of membership registration and donation processing results, may be sent to the email address registered by a member or user, regardless of whether they have consented to receive newsletters and activity updates. Newsletters and activity updates shall be provided only to users who have consented to receive them. Users who withdraw their consent shall be removed from the mailing list. The Foundation may display or distribute advertisements related to service operations through its website, service interface, SMS messages, email, or other channels. Any communication or transaction arising from a member’s use of advertisements displayed through the services or participation in an advertiser’s promotional activities is solely between the member and the advertiser. Any disputes must be resolved directly between them, and the Foundation assumes no liability in connection with such disputes.

Article 12. Removal of Posts or Content

The Foundation may remove, without prior notice, any content posted or transmitted by members through the services, including content exchanged between members, if it determines that the content falls under any of the following categories. The Foundation assumes no liability for such removal.

1. Content that disparages or defames the Foundation, another member, or a third party and damages their reputation.

2. Information, text, images, or other material that violates public order or public morals.

3. Content considered to be associated with criminal activity.

4. Content that infringes the Foundation’s copyright, a third party’s copyright, or other rights.

5. Content that has exceeded the posting period specified by the Foundation in the detailed usage guidelines referred to in paragraph 2 of this Article.

6. Content unrelated to the services provided by the Foundation.

7. Unnecessary or unauthorized advertisements or promotional materials.

8. Content otherwise deemed to violate applicable laws or the Foundation’s guidelines.

The Foundation may establish and implement separate detailed guidelines for posts. Members must comply with these guidelines when posting or removing content, including content exchanged between members.

Article 13. Copyright in Posts

• Members retain copyright in the content they post through the services, including content exchanged between members. The Foundation has the right to display such content within the services but may not use it for other purposes without the consent of the members who posted it.

• The Foundation assumes no civil or criminal liability where content posted by a member infringes on another person’s copyright, including copyright in computer programs.

• If a third party brings a claim against the Foundation, including a claim for damages, on the grounds that a member has infringed such rights, the member must make efforts to protect the Foundation from liability. If the Foundation is not relieved of liability, the member shall compensate the Foundation for all resulting losses.

• The Foundation may remove content posted by a member whose service agreement has been terminated at the member’s request or on lawful grounds.

• Copyright in works created by the Foundation belongs to the Foundation.

• Members may not use materials available through the services for commercial purposes, including by processing or selling information obtained through the services, or allow third parties to do so. Copyright infringement involving posted content shall be subject to applicable laws.

Chapter 4. Termination of the Agreement and Restrictions on Service Use

Article 14. Termination of the Agreement

Members wishing to terminate their service agreement must personally submit a termination request through the Foundation’s website or another procedure designated by the Foundation. Members may close their membership accounts by following the membership withdrawal procedure provided by the Foundation. Membership withdrawal and cancellation of recurring donations are handled separately. Withdrawal from membership does not automatically cancel an ongoing recurring donation. Members wishing to stop recurring donations must complete the separate cancellation procedure.

For overseas recurring donations, donors may request cancellation by emailing the Foundation. Requests shall be processed after review by an administrator. No further recurring payments shall be processed once cancellation has been completed. However, cancellation does not apply to transactions that have already been authorized or completed before cancellation is processed.

Article 15. Restrictions on Service Use

The Foundation may terminate a user’s service agreement or suspend service use for a specified period without prior notice if the user engages in any of the following:

1. Conduct that undermines public order or public morals.

2. Conduct associated with criminal activity.

3. Planning or using the services for the purpose of undermining national interests or the public interest.

4. Unauthorized use of another person’s user ID or password.

5. Conduct that damages another person’s reputation or causes them harm.

6. Duplicate registration by the same user under different user IDs.

7. Posting content that infringes another person’s copyright or other rights.

8. Conduct that damages the services or interferes with their proper use, including hacking or distributing computer viruses.

9. Other violations of applicable laws or the conditions of use established by the Foundation.

When terminating a member’s service agreement or suspending services, the Foundation shall notify the member before termination. However, where urgent suspension is necessary, the Foundation may suspend services without prior notice. Members notified of a suspension under the preceding paragraph may object to the suspension. If the Foundation confirms during the suspension period that the grounds for suspension have been resolved, it shall immediately lift the suspension.

Chapter 5. Damages and Other Provisions

Article 16. Compensation for Damages

If the Foundation suffers losses because of a member’s violation of these Terms, the member shall compensate the Foundation for all such losses. If a member’s unlawful conduct or violation of these Terms in connection with service use results in claims against the Foundation by a third party, including claims for damages or lawsuits, the member shall, at their own expense and responsibility, indemnify and hold the Foundation harmless. If the Foundation is not relieved of liability, the member shall compensate the Foundation for all resulting losses.

Article 17. Disclaimer of Liability

The Foundation assumes no liability for the accuracy, reliability, or other aspects of information, materials, or statements posted by users.
The Foundation is not liable for users’ failure to obtain anticipated profits, loss of profits from service use, or losses arising from materials obtained through the services.
The Foundation has no obligation to intervene in disputes arising through the services between members or between a member and a third party and is not liable for any resulting losses.
The Foundation shall not be liable for disruptions to service use attributable to a member.
The Foundation shall not be liable for failure to provide services due to natural disasters or comparable circumstances beyond its control.

Article 18. Jurisdiction

If a dispute arises between the Foundation and a member in connection with service use, both parties shall consult in good faith to resolve it. If the dispute remains unresolved despite such consultation, either party may bring an action before a court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.

Supplementary Provision
These Terms shall take effect on October 15, 2026.
